Abstract

Nanoparticles are materials with dimensions of less than 100 nanometers. Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) nanoparticles were successfully synthesized and evaluated for their efficiency in the photocatalytic degradation of ortho-nitro aniline orange dye, an aromatic pollutant of significant environmental concern. In this study, TiO₂ nanoparticles were prepared using the sol-gel method and calcined to enhance crystallinity and photocatalytic activity. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized using X-ray Diffraction (XRD), UV-Visible spectroscopy, Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), To determine their crystalline phases, optical properties, functional groups, photocatalytic degradation, Experiments were conducted under UV irradiation with the optimization of catalyst dosage, dye concentration, and irradiation time. The results showed that TiO₂ nanoparticles' efficiency achieved significant degradation of ortho-nitro aniline orange dye through oxidative pathways facilitated by photogenerated electron-hole pairs. Kinetic analysis indicated that the degradation process followed a pseudo-first-order reaction kinetics.
